Sometimes

Sometimes- 12/3/19

Sometimes
I wonder
why
it feels like Poetry
has chosen Me?

Why couldn’t I
be something less
complicated?
Something easier to
swallow
than this handful
of scrabble tiles?

this fistful of letters?
this whisper of madness?

Sometimes
I wonder
why it feels like Poetry
has chosen Me?

Then I remember so long ago…
I choose it instead.
Falling in love with language
instead of something
easier.

Spring brings blooms

Spring brings blooms

tulips opening slowly

into bursts of bubbling colors

Spring brings bold once barren landscapes

into bright beautiful blossoms of color

hues of pastels shades of baby blue and greens

everything unfolds freely into the warm wind.

Spring brings blooms

the flowers they whisper as they peek out

from tightly wrapped buds

even the grass changes from brown back to green.

The change of seasons is dramatic

the rebirth of earth and plants hang upon

a restless daydream.

Still accepting poets for Autumn Poetry Anthology: Update

I am still working on the cover art. Right now, I have a total of six poets interested, I am going to list them by first name only if you do not see your name & have already submitted please email me. If you wish to join us I am extending the deadline for at least another two weeks.

The list of current poets involved are: Leesa, Carrie,Omavi,Celestine,Bianca and Emily-(me)-

So Far the Cover Art looks like this:

Dredging upDemeter Cover 2

I’m looking for at least 10-15 poets in total. It depends on how many are interested -then I can determine how many poems per poet. Right now I am thinking of at least three poems, but perhaps as many as four poems per poet? Any suggestions would be helpful with this process.

If the interest stays this small, I might even expand to five poems per poet-that will be up for debate among the previous six other poets listed above. I was hoping for a larger selection. But I must admit even if it winds up a smaller anthology-that wonderful things still can come in small packages.

I am more than willing to accept new poets! The basic themes are still the same. I am leaning towards dividing the book in half like I did with my previous project. The first time I just ordered each poem in the order it was emailed to me in the first half of our project. In the second half I put all the remaining poems grouped by each individual poet. We did also include small bio statements which we may not do this time-I’m going to leave it up to my poets-if they wish to do this again or not?

The themes are:

1. Autumn

2. Seasonal Holidays: Halloween, Day of the Dead, Samhain, Thanksgiving perhaps I should also include? Christmas and Winter Solstice here as well...?

3. Changing of Seasons: Summer into Fall or Fall into Winter

If you wish to be included? It is easy. Just email me a poem on one of the above themes. The Deadline is either Dec 1st or when I reach around 20 poets. Then I will ask for at least 2 poems possibly 3 more poems for each poet. If I do not reach that many poets- I am just extending our deadline by another two weeks So Dec 16th, 2014. Hopefully we can complete this project by sometime in Early Jan or Feb 2015.

My email is:

sexinthekitchensink@hotmail.com or holisticartworks@gmail.com Please put Poetry Anthology 2 in subject line or Dredging up Demeter.”

Autumn Anthology: still accepting Poems & Poets

“Last night I made an executive decision for a title. I basically like “Dredging up Demeter: Autumn Anthology of Poetry.” I did some basic artwork based upon this theme.

The Pathway of the Sun:

The Pathway of the Sun:

Morning arises slowly

as The pathway of the Sun

inches across the Sky,

leaving ribbons of colored streaks

which grow and expand

into a glorious blaze of Sunrise.

The pathway of the Sun:

Morning arises quickly

as people tumble out of

their beds, like crazed tumbleweeds.

Trying to fit into the suit

of each of their lives

as quickly as possible

to get to the places they must go to

as fast as humanly possible.

The pathway of the Sun:

Morning arises quietly

Nobody hears the color of light

yet it changes quite

rapidly

from a Sunrise

into Blue Skies with velvet white

frosted clouds.

The pathway of the Sun:

Morning dies down daily

as quick as it awakens, it breathes, it grows

into Sunshine filled days

exposed by Time & each time

the Sun fights back He only

manages to die down into

the colors of twilight and  He

gives in to the Epiphany of

Starlight.

The pathway of the Sun:

To rise and fall each day always,

until our time runs out.

Have you ever wondered?

What motivates the Sun,

so that he does not give up completely

and just burn out?

Book Description

October 7, 2014
This is a collection of roughly 33 poems centering on the theme loosely based on the color Red. It also contains original artwork and is estimated at around 68 pages in length.Colors often invoke images and feelings. Imagery and emotions are the very fabric which poets create poetry. Color invites thought, form and concrete notions. I decided to focus on Red as it is one of my favorites. I can only hope my artwork along side my poetry can inspire or touch readers in a thoughtful focused way. Let’s explore the world of Red, its texture, it’s feelings, right down to its bones. This ebook does contain some mature content.
Please feel free to use the “Look inside the Book.” feature to see if some of the poetry/content appeals to you. $2.99 on Kindle. There is also a paperback version available for $16.99, 8.5×11, white pages with colored images, 68 pages. Available off both Amazon.com and http://www.createspacestore.com : here is that link:  https://www.createspace.com/5013532
Comments and Feedback or reviews are always highly encouraged and very welcomed.

The Firecracker

The Firecracker-10/02/14

Thursday 1:51pm EST

The clock stands still

at 2 O’Clock.

I feel the crispness of the Fan.

As I silently wait for her.

The one who buys groceries,

in her sixty-ish skin,

fraile yet forever,

frisky.

She’ll carry all of them,

in by herself-

if I don’t wait to greet her.

Her-She-She is,

the One

with Ab-fib,

history of heart attacks, high blood pressure,

diabetes type 2 and even more…

But despite all of that,

She’s a Spitfire.

Do not Ever,

underestimate her.

She’s stubborn,

like a shotgun.

She is solid like granite,

although she bears a few

cracks.

The clock stands still

at 2 O’Clock.

I feel the cool crispness

of the Fan.

And I plan

to remain here,

sitting silently

waiting,

for my husband’s Mother,

to come bursting through

the front door

like a firecracker.

(sidenote: just 2 hrs after I wrote this poem, I caught her outside attempting to mow our lawn. I yelled to her She shouldn’t do that that She knows she is not supposed too. Ignoring me, She did the 1/3 of the backyard she could manage and came inside for a nap. When I complained to my husband he just laughed at me….)
