BISAC: Poetry / Women Authors

This is a collection of roughly 33 poems centering on the theme loosely based on the color Red. Colors often invoke images and feelings. Imagery and emotions are the very fabric which poets create poetry. Color invites thought, form and concrete notions. I decided to focus on Red as it is one of my favorites. I can only hope my artwork along side my poetry can inspire or touch readers in a thoughtful focused way. Let’s explore the world of Red, its texture, it’s feelings, right down to its bones.

It is available as a pre-order off kindle right now, but it will be available to download starting this Tuesday 10/07/14. In either case the kindle price is quite reasonable at just $2.99

Help Wanted: Poets please apply…

I am just tumbling the idea of a collection of poetry of some of my own poems, but also publishing some poetry of some of my http://www.wordpress.com friends. I am unsure of how to go about doing such an anthology? Especially as far as earning any profits…To be fair, I am not looking to cash in on anybody elses’s talents. Instead I like the idea of several of us poets coming together and creating a self published anthology of poetry MORE for self-expression and Self-exposure, publicity if you will….It’s just an idea in the rough.

But I am thinking maybe X amount of poets & 3 poems each + a short auto-bio of each poet and links to other published works or links to poets blog or website…

If this idea appeals to anybody please send me a sample poem and an email introduction to:
sexinthekitchensex@hotmail.com

If I edited this type of book for kindle I would probably price it very low like .99 cents for the ebook.
I’m not too sure if this even interests anybody? But I know some of the poets i follow here have yet to be published. Perhaps being included in an anthology would give them the well needed push to self publish their own stuff.

My proposals is simple-email me a single poem and the first 20 poet’s poems I receive will be asked to be part of this collection. Deadline is whenever I receive 20 entry emails or let’s say the Summer Solstice June 21st Midnight EST. If you are selected-via-I receive 20 poems-I will email those poets ASAP and you will need to submit just 2 more poems and a short auto-bio poet statement.

Well then, let see if there are any fishes biting? Let the Games begin!!

Another book review: ebook “Moon Stream: poetry and art chapbook.”

4.0 out of 5 stars hungry for more, February 14, 2014
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Moon Stream: A Chapbook of Poems and Art (Kindle Edition)
Buying this was a leap of faith for me. As somebody on a limited income, (I’m on disability)-I rarely pay this much for an e-book-$5.99. Despite being only 26 pages, it looked intriguing, so I thought I’d risk it. Ms. Gignoux is a real knockout as a poet. She is very talented. Her art was a nice touch. While, I do not regret buying this item, I really was hungry for more-both poetry and art-and I guess that is a compliment to her mind-blowing talent that she creates a world of poetry in such a short collection that leaves the reader wanting more. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel she could have gone a bit longer. Also, I feel pretty strongly that if you include the word “Art” in your title you should have more than 3 pieces of artwork. But that comes back to my own personal standards because I also publish Artist and Poetry chapbooks on kindle as well. The art she did use was very beautiful but once again I say: this book leaves you hungry for more, more , more!! Despite that I did enjoy her book-I devoured it whole in one sitting.I will most likely re-read it from time to time it made a nice addition to my kindle library.

“Why Are There No Blue Dogs?”

“Why Are There No Blue Dogs?”.

This is a very well written tribute to a person that the Author had much love for. It is an honest portrayal-very sincere and beautifully written. It makes me wish that had I been born in a different time and place-I would have loved to meet his loved one. This is very powerful writing here.

Ulysses – The symbol of Transformation!

very interesting and poignant blog post.

There is a Native American legend that says, ” If you have a secret wish, capture a butterfly and whisper your wish to it. Since butterflies cannot speak, your secret is ever safe in their keeping. Release the butterfly, and it will carry your wish to the Great Spirit, who alone knows the thoughts of butterflies. By setting the butterfly free, you are helping to restore the balance of nature, and your wish will surely be granted.”
They are a symbol of change, joy, and color. (There is also an association of Faerie folklore with butterflies.) Their flight appears as dancing, and a reminder not to take things so seriously. They have a sense of lightness and joy. They are reminders to get up and move, for if you can move you can dance, and dance brings joy.
The butterfly is a powerful symbol for transformation. It leaves the safety…

Poetry Junkie

Hi my name is Emily with a ‘Y’,

and I am a Poetry Addict.

I cannot stop writing them,

and really it’s becoming no fun.

I’m addicted to the words,

especially the verbs-

-the crunchy kind.

I’m shifty and slightly,

untrustworthy;

especially around word games,

like scrabble.

I’m sure to cheat, throw in a personal-pronoun,

I’m in way too deep.

And there are words, literally

everywhere.

I look and I cannot,

get away fast enough!

I am a poetry addict,

one or two poems, a day-

is never enough.

Some I would suppose-

would doubt my sincerity.

Some I would suppose-

would doubt my sanity.

Some I would suppose would just

assume its harmless fun.

But I become ruthless and ravenous,

when I’m around words,

I cannot help myself.
