Help Wanted: Poets please apply, is a poetry anthology project I started in early May 2014. I invited other poets via my wordpress blog to join in the project as a way of individual promotion and free publishing for those who never experienced that before. 18 poets came forward and we all added our own poetic flair. We sincerely hope you enjoy the variety of the diverse and very talented group of poets.
Sincerely Emily Sturgill-Editor This first collection is roughly is 151 pages in length, but please remember ebooks maybe longer than paperbacks-as is the case with this one. I am unsure without double checking but I think the printed book was just over 100-120 pages in length.
It has just recently been released. It will be FREE starting April 2nd on Amazon’s kindle ebook platform.

This is a creative collaborative collection of poetry focusing on three seasonal themes. First is Autumn, Secondly is seasonal holidays such as Dia de los muertos, Halloween, Samhain, Thanksgiving, Winter Solstice, Yule and Christmas. Last is transitioning the changing of Seasons from Summer into Autumn, or Autumn into Winter. There is an underlying connection to the natural world and our place as Poets in it. This collection is very unique yet diverse. Hopefully we weave a web of interrelated connections of Nature and her four seasons as we knock upon her door, we are dredging up Demeter. This collection includes the works of: Lessa Abbott, Omavi Victorine,Celestine Nudana,Jacob Appelman,Katy Ottaway,Scott William Kendall, Anna Bianca, Carrie Page,Emily Sturgill and Bianca Alu-Marr.
The second collection is roughly 79 pages long.
Hi. I am very pleased to announce that there is now some additional poetry in my recent anthology called,”Dredging up Demeter: An Autumn Anthology.” which is available off amazon.com’s kindle platform for just $3.33. There was one last poet whose work I wanted to also include. Everyone really worked hard on this collection. The following poets are featured in this work:
Lessa Abbott, Omavi Victorine,Celestine Nudana,Jacob Appelman,Katy Ottaway,Scott William Kendall, Anna Bianca, Carrie Page,Emily Sturgill and Bianca Alu-Marr.
This second revised edition was expanded to include the poetry of Bianca Alu-Marr and I wish to welcome her and thank her for joining our project. I expect to hear back from kindel tomorrow regarding the updates.
I did try to change the book cover a bit. But that was really about it. If you are one of the readers who have already gotten your kindle rcopy there should be instructions on how to update your version or kindle may contact you letting you know there are updates. If not you can go to manage my kindle on Amazon.com and click a box to manually update one or all of your ebooks. I believe thy have a feature that you can choose called whispersync or something similar to that which allows you to automatically update anytime any author updates an ebook you have already bought.
This anthology would never had been possible if it were not for the creative collaboration of all of my poets.
I am hoping to submit a paperback version soon and will let everyone knows when that happens. It has been such a joyous experience to read all the wonderful and varied poetry around seasonal themes. Some Poets also choose to submit photography or artwork to compliment their writings. Once again, I just wanted to give sincere thanks for everybody coming together in the unique and fun way.

The updated version will not be available for at least 12-24 hrs. So either by tomorrow evening or tomorrow morning depending, BUT since I slightly altered the cover that would be a great way to make sure you are getting the latest version!
I reviewed this book on Good Reads last winter, I believe? But in case anyone missed it. It is worth mentioning here again on my blog. This book “A Brief Guide to Thriving for individual with mental illness and their loved ones.” is by Leesa Abbott, Psy.D I am also mentioning this work in particular because the Author has decided to release a personal memoir soon of her own personal struggles and triumphs living with a SMI-(Serious Mental illness) I am beyond excited about her new release and will let my readers know as soon as I know when that title does become available. Dr. Abbott is a University Professor, a professional poet & author, a mental health advocate who also does volunteer work for NAMI in her spare time. On top of all those things, she also leads a support group for teens struggling with depression while caring for her friends and family. Here is my Review:
“In this book, Dr. Abbott addresses several basic issues and concerns, which would be very useful to anyone diagnosed recently with mental illness, or that person’s friends and family. She presents a model of Recovery in five stages. Dr. Abbott writes that she adopted-(invented perhaps?)-this model, after studying similar models such as the well known 5 stages of Grief/ Loss or certain recovery from addiction models. However she contrasts her model by pointing out while other models are static, hers is not. She feels her model is more fluid-to me her model almost seems circular-although we both agree that a person in any process form of recovery from mental illness may repeat these stages or regress or progress at different stages.
As she points out many with mental illnesses may go in and out of these stages at any given time. Here are her five stages: 1. Psychological Changes 2. Self-Awareness of those changes 3.Receiving help.4. Acceptance of ones own mental illness. 5.Reaching out to others. She does explain not everyone will complete this entire process outlined. The last step is the hardest-to deal with stigma and to reach out to others in need-still suffering-while this is noble-not everyone is capable of this or even wishes to try this.(the author does acknowledge this fact.) Also in this book she recounts her own story of mental illness. I do wish that this section was longer and that she would have expanded. But this is a brief guidebook, I do understand why her focus is not on her personal experiences so much. She centers on the issues faced by those with mental illness and how to help.
This is an useful resource no matter what stage of recovery you are in. This book is ideal because it emphasizes two things; You are not alone and there are a multitude of ways you can help yourself.
One last thing I would like to add, is what the Author says about Hope: “The self-fulfilling
prophecy studied by psychologists, includes the idea that what we continue to believe about ourselves or our future will Eventually come to be. It’s essential to maintain a positive outlook about yourself and your future.”(2013, Abbott.L, p.26)”

The paperback version will cost much more. But part of that is due to printing charges and length-this book is 99 pages long. It will be available on demand from Createspace, 8.5 x 11 (or perhaps 8.5 x 10)? White pages and color images. It will cost $25.95. Also if you buy a paperback version later the e-book is also free to download.
I am seeking poets to join in a Poetry Anthology Project. This project is open to all and any poets. So far I had gotten 3 entries. I prefer if you enter via email. Please email me one single poem at email@example.com If that address does not work please send it to my gmail at : firstname.lastname@example.org. The idea is simple. Once I receive 20 poems, I will notify everybody. The first 20 poets who send a poem are accepted no questions asked.
The purpose of asking for only one poem, is merely to show intent that yes you are a poet and yes you want to be part of this anthology. Next after I get 20 poems or the deadline of June 21, 2014 happens-whichever comes first-next is stage two. I will then ask all the poets to send in two more poems each and a short auto-bio statement including links to published works or blogs or websites.
The purpose of this anthology is two-fold: 1. To display a very diverse amount of poets
2. To give poets publicity especially if they have never been published so far.
Because I am also a poet and an art therapist, I am very broad minded when it comes to poetry. I do not anticipate rejecting anybody-as long as you are in the first 20-and I am not judging any other poets work as good or bad or anything like that.I will also entry myself but only using the same guidelines I’m giving you guys-3 poems total-1 short auto-bio statement* try to keep bio statement to one page please. That way its fair to everybody else too.
As an Editor of this collection-primarily my only real concern is misspelled words.I will change those if I find them but that’s all. Also I am going to change everybody’s font to 12 point times New Roman. That’s really about it. I think with poetry people use grammar creatively-so I don’t wish to edit that. I don’t really have any rules regarding length of types of poems. I really just want to give new poets-or old poets-a place to shine.
I encourage any one to enter. So far, I only have 3 entries but four other poets have said maybe. I am hoping for 20 because I really want to publish it on kindle and Createspace.
The kindle version I would like to keep low like 99 cents. I’m really not trying to make money off other poets-what I want to do is help poets see their work get published and perhaps to encourage them to self-publish on their own.
Please email or comment below if you have any questions-thank you-
A.K.A. Sex in the kitchen sink.
I am just tumbling the idea of a collection of poetry of some of my own poems, but also publishing some poetry of some of my http://www.wordpress.com friends. I am unsure of how to go about doing such an anthology? Especially as far as earning any profits…To be fair, I am not looking to cash in on anybody elses’s talents. Instead I like the idea of several of us poets coming together and creating a self published anthology of poetry MORE for self-expression and Self-exposure, publicity if you will….It’s just an idea in the rough.
But I am thinking maybe X amount of poets & 3 poems each + a short auto-bio of each poet and links to other published works or links to poets blog or website…
If this idea appeals to anybody please send me a sample poem and an email introduction to:
If I edited this type of book for kindle I would probably price it very low like .99 cents for the ebook.
I’m not too sure if this even interests anybody? But I know some of the poets i follow here have yet to be published. Perhaps being included in an anthology would give them the well needed push to self publish their own stuff.
My proposals is simple-email me a single poem and the first 20 poet’s poems I receive will be asked to be part of this collection. Deadline is whenever I receive 20 entry emails or let’s say the Summer Solstice June 21st Midnight EST. If you are selected-via-I receive 20 poems-I will email those poets ASAP and you will need to submit just 2 more poems and a short auto-bio poet statement.
Well then, let see if there are any fishes biting? Let the Games begin!!
