Surreal down to my Stomach

Swallowing coffee along with

my vowels, consonants, poetry

vomiting here and there

words on my pages

endlessly.

Surreal down to my toes

Eating fairy tales at breakfast

munching on the crunchy

internet with its crisp edges

and social networking sites

I eat them whole

with a gulp

but my eyes are too big

for my stomach.

tossing up cookies

throwing up twitter

puking up facebook

hoping to feel better.

Surreal down to my bones.

my bowels do not work

right or I would be

shitting out sentences

pissing out punctuation

defecating out imperfections.

But I cannot. Even sit straight.

I am nailed to my bed.

Attached to a couple of heating pads

choking on endometriosis

and puking out the Sun.

Surreal moments.

Time passes me by.

Always this cramping, constant feeling of unwellness.

Endometriosis has shattered my heart-beat

into two rhythms.

into two pumps of poetic pulsing

rapid flowing & cursing

pumps of blood.

Surreal down to my Skin.

Surreal down to my Stomach.

Surreal down to my toes.

Surreal down deeply-

surreal down to my bones.

Revisions added to Dredging up Demeter Anthology: 2nd Edition should be released tomorrow!

Hi. I am very pleased to announce that there is now some additional poetry in my recent anthology called,”Dredging up Demeter: An Autumn Anthology.” which is available off amazon.com’s kindle platform for just $3.33. There was one last poet whose work I wanted to also include. Everyone really worked hard on this collection. The following poets are featured in this work:

Lessa Abbott, Omavi Victorine,Celestine Nudana,Jacob Appelman,Katy Ottaway,Scott William Kendall, Anna Bianca, Carrie Page,Emily Sturgill and Bianca Alu-Marr.

This second revised edition was expanded to include the poetry of Bianca Alu-Marr and I wish to welcome her and thank her for joining our project. I expect to hear back from kindel tomorrow regarding the updates.

I did try to change the book cover a bit. But that was really about it. If you are one of the readers who have already gotten your kindle rcopy there should be instructions on how to update your version or kindle may contact you letting you know there are updates. If not you can go to manage my kindle on Amazon.com and click a box to manually update one or all of your ebooks. I believe thy have a feature that you can choose called whispersync or something  similar to that which allows you to automatically update anytime any author updates an ebook you have already bought.

Dredging up Demeter Second Edition Cover for KindelThis anthology would never had been possible if it were not for the creative collaboration of all of my poets.

I am hoping to submit a paperback version soon and will let everyone knows when that happens. It has been such a joyous experience to read all the wonderful and varied poetry around seasonal themes. Some Poets also choose to submit photography or artwork to compliment their writings. Once again, I just wanted to give sincere thanks for everybody coming together in the unique and fun way.

Here is a link:

http://www.amazon.com/Dredging-Demeter-Autumn-Anthology-Poetry-ebook/dp/B00RJFQNH8/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8

The updated version will not be available for at least 12-24 hrs. So either by tomorrow evening or tomorrow morning depending, BUT since I slightly altered the cover that would be a great way to make sure you are getting the latest version!

Autumn Anthology Update:”Dredging up Demeter:An Autumn Anthology.” Now available as pre-order.

I have made my newest Project a Poetic Anthology Available on Amazon.com as a pre-order.

HERE is a link:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RJFQNH8

As a pre-order, it is available, to be purchased in advance of its release. I am hopeful that I will be able to release it at the end of Feb around Feb 28th, 2015. The timeline is I have a new deadline for all of my poets involved. They have been notified of this in most cases by email. The deadline for all of their work is Jan 31st, 2015. Then Kindle Direct Platform -(KDP)-

gives me a deadline too, I must upload a finalized manuscript no later than Feb 18, 2015. Then it will be published on Feb 28, 2015.

This time, I went for a bit higher price-but only by $2. Basically the kindle version will be $3.33. I can always go back and reduce it. I can also revise my book description to include all the poets names as I did with my other Anthology. Any feedback is very welcome. I am asking each of my poets submit three more poems-so four in total-plus, if they wish a piece of artwork or photography, of their own original creation, that compliment their poetry.

I can be contacted via email at: sexinthekitchensink@hotmail.com OR holisticartworks@gmail.com Please put Autumn Anthology in subject line or Demeter Anthology.

Thank you, sincerely Emily Sturgill

Not enough

Not enough-

Dec 26th, 2014

Friday Afternoon 2:49 EST

Not enough

Never enough

Not enough

sleep.

Not enough,

to eat.

Not enough,

to touch the sky & kidnap the Sun.

Not enough, to learn how to fly,

just enough to become

untied

undone.

Not enough to reach outwards and find it.

Not enough to reach out, and grab the happy

right off someone else’s face,

because my happy

its become erased

misplaced

lost confusion.

It’s just not enough,

to fix up this place.

It’s not enough to straighten

this room, to clean between the cracks, to sweep

a broom across this dusty room

deep inside my minds eye.

Not enough,

to touch the sky & kidnap the Sun.

Not enough, to learn how to fly,

just enough to become

untied

undone.

It’s not enough to

try to run, to sprint, to finish

the race.

I’m fresh out of lungs

the air is too sharp, cold and dry-

It’s not enough,

to just sit here

waiting for you

to get home.

It’s not enough, to be a failure as a housewife,

to be a successful lunatic

with a Masters Degree

and no job prospects.

It’s not enough

to be a crazy person,

living on SSDI, it’s not enough, to always

live in someone else’s shadow

it’s not enough

to be the ghost

you can come home

and answer too.

Don’t you understand?

My wings may have melted, because I flew

too closely to the Sun

but I have dreams too.

I do not long to be

someone else’s

no one.

Autumn Anthology: still accepting Poems & Poets

This was first posted a few weeks ago. So far, I have roughly four or five poets who are interested. I am still accepting poetry entries until Dec 1st or until I reach a maximum number of poets. I’m looking for at least 10-15 poets in total. It depends on how many are interested -then I can determine how many poems per poet. Right now I am thinking of at least three poems, but perhaps as many as four poems per poet? Any suggestions would be helpful with this process.

“Last night I made an executive decision for a title. I basically like “Dredging up Demeter: Autumn Anthology of Poetry.” I did some basic artwork based upon this theme.

Anthology Autumn Artwork1 Anthology Autumn Artwork Cover rough1 So far I have a total of five poets if I am including myself!! I am eager for more poets to join in-whether you were one of my poets in the first anthology OR not!! I am more than willing to accept new poets! The basic themes are still the same. I am leaning towards dividing the book in half like I did with my previous project. The first time I just ordered each poem in the order it was emailed to me in the first half of our project. In the second half I put all the remaining poems grouped by each individual poet. We did also include small bio statements which we may not do this time-I’m going to leave it up to my poets-if they wish to do this again or not?

The themes are:

1. Autumn

2. Seasonal Holidays: Halloween, Day of the Dead, Samhain, Thanksgiving perhaps I should also include? Christmas and Winter Solstice here as well…?

3. Changing of Seasons: Summer into Fall or Fall into Winter

If you wish to be included? It is easy. Just email me a poem on one of the above themes. The Deadline is either Dec 1st or when I reach around 20 poets. Then I will ask for at least 2 poems possibly 3 more poems for each poet. My email is:

sexinthekitchensink@hotmail.com or holisticartworks@gmail.com Please put Poetry Anthology 2 in subject line or Dredging up Demeter.”

New Release Now Available on kindle: “Red Bones: poetry and Artwork.”

My latest poetry and artist chapbook is now available off of http://www.amazon.com.

HERE  is a link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NTMG460?ref_=pe_870760_118561140

Book Description

October 7, 2014
This is a collection of roughly 33 poems centering on the theme loosely based on the color Red. It also contains original artwork and is estimated at around 68 pages in length.Colors often invoke images and feelings. Imagery and emotions are the very fabric which poets create poetry. Color invites thought, form and concrete notions. I decided to focus on Red as it is one of my favorites. I can only hope my artwork along side my poetry can inspire or touch readers in a thoughtful focused way. Let’s explore the world of Red, its texture, it’s feelings, right down to its bones. This ebook does contain some mature content.
Please feel free to use the “Look inside the Book.” feature to see if some of the poetry/content appeals to you. $2.99 on Kindle. There is also a paperback version available for $16.99, 8.5×11, white pages with colored images, 68 pages. Available off both Amazon.com and http://www.createspacestore.com : here is that link:  https://www.createspace.com/5013532
Comments and Feedback or reviews are always highly encouraged and very welcomed.
Thank you, my wordpress readers! Without your encouragement and support as readers, I doubt I would even keep writing at all! Sincerely, Emily Sturgill

Here between my easel and I:

What does lie,

here between

my Easel & I?

apathy

empty

blank white titanium

flat canvas

and I

am ever the Greatest-

procrastinator, it seems

of all time.

What does lie between,

my Easel and I?

a heightened sense of imperfection.

tears of frustration

of hesitation

they run down my face

almost invisible,

as if I am only crying on the inside

for my cheeks lie

both bare & dry.

But the true color of my tears,

are those of unspent, built up:

cadmium yellow hue,

alizarin crimson streaks,

dabs of cobalt blue

puddles of pink & purple

and shades of

burnt sienna.

Acrylic shiny colorful tears

that refuse to budge or give in,

tears that refuse to splatter

shatter the ground

and fall

like broken ideas at my feet.

What stands between my easel & I?

Pented up emotions.

Broken Daydreams.

Unspoken fantasy.

Un-Spilled milk running,

like unspoken poetry

and unpainted starbursts

of foggy, hazy, unspent

lately-

the ghost of my

own creativity.
